Today (May 20, 2017), Jewel P. Lightfoot Lodge No. 1283 gathered to recognize Brother Billy J. Williams, who has been a member of the lodge for over 70 years. Bro. Williams’ history with our lodge is very nearly as long-running as the lodge itself. He received the Symbolic Degrees in 1946, just three years after the lodge received its charter at the end of 1942, at which time it bore the name South Dallas Lodge No. 1283.
Now at 96 years of age, Bro. Williams is the second oldest living member of the lodge and has lived more years as a Master Mason than any other member. Prior to becoming a Mason, he successfully completed 38 missions as a B-29 Superfortress gunner during World War II, the last of which was in progress over Japan at the same time the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.
Worshipful Master David Bindel presented Bro. Williams with a beautiful certificate and pin issued by the Grand Lodge of Texas under the hand of Grand Master Jerry N. Kirby, and many of the brothers present offered words of gratitude and congratulations.
Bro. Williams’ proclamation to the attendees: “I am proud to be a Mason!”
And the lodge is honored to have him!

Dues for 2017 are due by December 31, 2016, and can be paid by check mailed to the Secretary or paid online via Groupspaces (you must be a member of our Groupspaces group to pay online.)
Jewel P. Lightfoot Lodge welcomed Bro. Robert Herd to give his lodge leadership seminar “Visionary Lodge Leadership”.
Bro. Herd has over 20 years of experience in international corporate leadership strategy and personal development. With these skills, Bro. Herd helps Masonic lodges improve themselves and develop quality leadership.
Our lodge was very appreciative of Bro. Herd taking the time to give this very helpful and insightful presentation to all the masonic lodges that were in attendance.

On January 15th, we welcomed our second brother of the new year into our order. Welcome to the fraternity, my brother. We appreciate all those who participated in this degree and made this night possible.
This was the question discussed by Brother Pete Normand in his presentation entitled “The Magic of Freemasonry”. We were privileged and honored to host Brother Normand, founding member and past master of St. Alban’s Lodge No. 1455 as our after-stated reception speaker for the month of November.
Congratulations on your preferment, my brother. Much appreciation to all those who participated in this very successful Fellow Craft degree, making this night possible.
